Maxillofacial Surgeon Jobs in Elgin, IL

They also play a significant role in performing reconstructive and cosmetic surgery to improve function and appearance, often working closely with other dental and medical specialties.

A Maxillofacial Surgeon should possess exceptional skills in diagnosis and surgical abilities, along with an in-depth understanding of both oral and general health issues. They must also have excellent hand-eye coordination and the ability to work under pressure. In terms of certification, they require a degree in dentistry, followed by further specialized surgical training, and typically certification from a governing body such as the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Prior to becoming a Maxillofacial Surgeon, an individual may have roles such as General Dentist, Resident in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, or a Fellowship in a related specialty.
