Who:
We are a premier dental office specializing in oral implantology and we are seeking a:

skilled oral surgical / dental assistant.

We are located in Armonk, NY within Westchester County.  For those who are unfamiliar, Armonk is about 10-min from White Plains, NY and about 20-min from Stamford, CT.

 

What:

You as a skilled oral-surgical / dental assistant will assist the dental surgeon in predominantly the following treatments and procedures:  infection removal, extraction, bone grafting, dental implant placement, healing factor placement, monitoring the patient during iv sedation, and suturing of surgical sites, etc., and those associated assisting techniques involved.

 

Experience, the Candidate must have:

- Prior experience in dental assisting and / or oral surgical assisting.

- At least, 2+ years on the job experience as a dental or oral surgical assistant.

- Formal training from a dental assisting academy or school highly considered and a plus.

- a working knowledge of dental instruments, tools, procedures, parts, equipment and techniques 

   incorporated into specific procedures or treatments.

 

Skill Set & Attributes, the Candidate should have and / or be:

- Attention to Detail while keeping the entire treatment in the scope of work.

- Organized Professional who can think under pressure

- Ability to multi-task (for example: monitoring the patient under iv sedation while assisting the

   surgeon in the procedure)

- Forward-Thinker, be prepared for the next step in the procedure and have a working

   understanding of the treatment as a whole.

- Communicative Person, who professionally, and calmly addressing situations, patients and 

  tasks at hand.

- Compassionate Professional, who can be gentle with patients while getting accomplished what 

  needs to be done in the treatment of the patient.

-Having a working understanding or knowledge of different dental procedures and treatments 

  whether this is formal training or on the job experience training or both!

 

Duties of the Surgical Assistant:

-obtaining a complete and or updated patients’ medical history, condition, evaluation, etc.

-familiarizing yourself with; the patient’s complete medical history.

-asking key questions and assisting in obtaining the necessary consent to treatment forms.

-taking the necessary pre-treatment planning digital x-rays and iCat 3-D Scan (ready for doctors’ inspection and analysis.)

-being part of the pre-treatment discussion by understanding the techniques that will be used and instruments necessary to prepare the surgical room for a particular treatment and implant system we will using for the particular case.

-preparing in advance, the surgical suite ready for the particular patient with all instruments, tools, and equipment necessary for that treatment lined up in a chronological order of events. 

-assisting the dental surgeon in the treatment, while being a second or third person monitoring the patient and critical monitors during sedation for the comfort and safety of the patient.

-being ready ‘with the next’ tool, instrument, or part the dental surgeon needs. 

-assisting the dental surgeon and front desk in what is needed to restock the surgical suite, parts, or working stock of implants, biomaterials, necessary sedation supplies, etc.

-note taking and scribe work: assisting the doctor and front desk in documenting what was performed, what parts where used, and key dates, etc.

-post surgical information and instructions the patient needs

-making arrangements with front desk for Post Operative Follow Up visits with the patient.
