JOB SUMMARY:
The General Dentist will be responsible for the removal of tooth decay, restoring teeth, and repairing fractured teeth. They will also diagnose and treat problems with patients' teeth, gums, and related parts of the mouth. They will provide advice and instruction on taking care of the teeth and gums and on diet choices that affect oral health.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Makes clinical and radiographic examinations of the oral hard and soft tissues and a diagnosis of pathological or irregular conditions of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area.
Performs endodontic, prosthodontic, periodontic, operative, preventative, and restorative dentistry within the scope of practice and ability.
Performs tooth extractions and refers as needed to the oral surgeon.
Performs root canal therapy within scope of practice.
Treats scheduled and emergent patients as needed.
Input patient demographics into Dentrix Database.
Informs patients about good dental health practices.
To maintain a sterile/disinfected environment in the delivery of oral care.
Other duties as assigned to maintain and enhance the operation of the department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Applicants must have passed the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE) which are developed and administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE) and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check under the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act (P.L.101-630).
Current ACLS, BLS and PALS certification or to be obtained within 60 days of hire.
